Run one of the games that suffers from the shifted display and find out what
vertical refresh rate it's useing. Most monitors have a knob or button you
can press to activate an adjustment menu. Many adjustment menus will at some
point display the horizontal and vertical refresh rate.
Many monitors remember different image size and position settings for
different vertical refresh rates. Try adjusting your monitor while
displaying something at a problematic reresh rate then checking to see if
the image is still in a desireable state at other vertical reresh rates.
If your monitor doesn't seem to have independant settings for different
vertical reresh rates most video drivers have provisions for independently
setting the vertical refresh rate for various resolutions. Look for your
desktop's resolution in that list and change the problematic resolution to
the same refresh rate. The default vertical refresh rate setting will
usually be higher for lower resolutions, gradually droping to 60 Hz at the
higher resolutions. Some monitors handle the higher vertical refresh rates
than others and most can't handle higher refresh rates at the realyl high
resolutions.

When I start windows xp the first screen seems to be shifted to the right
about 1/4 of the screen. After that all screens seem to be correct. The
problem that I am having I have tried to install several children games and
they all display with the same shift (The right 1/4 of the game is off
screen). I have tried changing the resolution size to the smallest
available but with no results that correct the shift. What do I need to
change to get the screen not to shift on the children games???
