Wrong program launching

All of a sudden, whenever I click on a file or file
folder, the wrong program is launching. At first it was
my ISP, then folders would open in search mode (somehow
the default command got changed to search and I changed it
to use open), but now it is back to opening with the ISP.

Any suggestions?

Your post doesn't make it very clear what the problem is with files.
What kind of files are not opening correctly? More details please.

For the folders: Not exactly the same error conditions but MVP Doug Knox
has a fix on his website:

Perhaps this will fix whatever is out of whack in your registry for
folders. Suggest you create a restore point before running the fix. Test
the results. If satisfactory, great. If not, roll back the system using
the restore point.
