Wrong Language installed.

I recieved a gift of a laptop recently, however, it was bought in Columbia
and is in Spanish rather than english. Is there any way to correct this. I
tried looking under the regional setting options but that doesn't seem have
an option to convert. Can you advise me of an alternate option?

Windows XP is written in specific language versions, therefore one
cannot "change" from one language version to another. You'll need
to purchase a "Full Version" of Windows XP in the language version
you desire, reformat your drive and install it "clean".

Or if you have an available empty drive or partition, you can install
another "Full Version" of Windows XP in a different language version
and create a dual-boot configuration.

You could have answered your own question by STFW. This question is asked -
and answered - at least weekly, http://groups.google.com.

But I'm feeling benevolent so I'll assist. You want it in English, you must
purchase the full English version of the flavour of your choice and perform
a clean installation. Only way.

This is something that may be worthwhile to contact the laptop manufacturer
about. They may have alternatives that they can offer. Perhaps free or at
least reduced cost when compared to buying an English version of Windows
and the software titles bundled in besides.
 
Just to add a little humor - would a Berlitz Spanish course be a viable
option? Seriously tho', when I was stationed in Germany I had the
opportunity to work on the German language versions of Windows and it was
very easy to learn the differences!

You cannot upgrade or convert from one language version of the OS
to another, so you'll have to purchase and use the full version of
WinXP (in whatever language you want) to perform a clean installation.
