My wife purchase by mistake set of inks for iP4200. Is it possible to
use it on Pixma iP4000? I think that physicaly they are same but I dunno
what is with inks inside? I dont want to clog printer head.
I've not taken the time to test to see if the cli-8 ink will fit into
the ip4000, but the colors would be slightly off.
There are a number of physical differences most of which are designed
to prevent you from using the older ink in a newer printer, but the
reverse might be possible.
If you want to try the ink on for size, follow this instruction block
http://pixma.web1000.com/Pixma345/345.html
change step IV to 1 time IIRC. (double checked teh manual)
To change back, repeat the instruction block but change step IV to 3
times, unless you are in europe then it's 4 times..
If I remember this step correctly, this will set the printer for japan,
where it expects to have bci-7 ink, rather than bci-6 ink. BCI-7 is
chromalife-100 same as cli-8. I've not seen them side by size, but if
memory serves me bci-7 had the same shift tward yellow in the magenta
ink that my current cli-8 does.
Again, this is "if" you want to use the ink and you want the color to
be spot on.
Clogging... I wouldn't worry about that. CLI-8 is used on printers
with finer nozzles than your ip4000, and similar technology. I'd be
more worried about those pegs on the aft end of the cartridge getting
in the way.
