After a recent power blackout my PC (Duron 1.1GHz on VIA VT8363, running
Win98SE) now thinks I have a 5 1/4" floppy drive instead of the 3 1/2" drive
connected. I have swapped both the drive and the cable with ones from
another computer with the same result. The drive and cable work in the other
computer but this one still won't recognize it. Any suggestions?

Did you check the bios to see how it is set ? Also check any other settings
for a change while there. It may be time to change the battery so the
settings willhold.

well, sometimes win registry gets corrupted with power outages, so I
suggest you to replace it with older one via Dos using
scanreg/restore ...

Thanks, I thought I had checked the BIOS sufficiently as I had it detecting
drives automatically. However, I forced it to recognize the floppy all is
now well.
