Hi,

First time using Excel 97

Cell has formula =(J17*100)

J17 is 1.08 so result should be 108 actual result in the cell is 107.94

All through the spreadsheet the answers to formulas are wrong.

Another cell has formula =(J18*50) result is 58.46
J18 is 1.17 so should give result as 58.50

Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong

Thanks

How are the figures in J17 and J18 derived?

If from calculations of other cells, they may not be exactly equal to the
values shown.

1.08 could be 1.079364567

What happens when you increase the decimal settings on these to 6 or 8 or
whatever?

You could use =ROUND((J17*100),2) to get 108

Thanks Gord,

I will try the =ROUND.

There are a number of cells converting US dollars to UK pounds for a price list.

Trying to set it up so that when I change the exchange rate the whole spreadsheet recalculates the prices.

Thanks for the feedback.

One thought.....set up your formulas so they point to one cell with the
exchange rate and you only have to change that one cell.

i.e. rate in A1

Prices in column B

In C1 enter =$A$1*B1 note the absolute reference $ signs for $A$1

Drag/copy down column C

Update A1 and all update.
