Wrong domain replies

Jon

Why is it that when I ping an outside domain, my DC
replies?

I checked DNS and there are no entries or references to
this domain. WINS is clean as well. I cleared the cache
and yet my DC responds to a totaly alien domain. This is
the only domain that it does this to, all others resolves
correctly.

Any ideas?

1) what is the domain name?
2) let see a dnscmd.exe /info
3) and a dnscmd /enumzones
--wjs

Also, check HOSTS files too. Seen too many hijacks lately, including my own!

Jon,
What exactly do you mean by "my DC replies"? Is it that all queries for this domain resolve to your DC's IP address? What domain is this? Trying clearing the
DNS cache on the DNS server. Also, you may want to take a trace to see who resolved the query.

Thanks,

I would also double check to make sure that Jon is only using his DNS
servers in his IP properties to eliminate that factor. Secure Cache Against
Pollution would be helpful too.

Curious what Jon found in his HOSTS file.
