Ok so i set my comp up and now i have the US keyboard
setting is there somewhere i can change this so i get a "
with <shift> 2 rather than a @. Do i need to reinstall my
windows I really hope not!

Just tell XP what kind of keyboard you really have. Control Panel |
Regional and Language Options | Tab: Languages | Button: Details and add
a UK Keyboard (if that's what you have) and make it default.

(Where did you get the idea the extreme and drastic step of reinstalling
Windows was a solution?)

Hope this is useful to you. Let us know.

During setup, you are asked about regional considerations.. Microsoft would
assume that you knew whether your keyboard was US, UK, French or Chinese
maybe. Go to CONTROL PANEL - REGIONAL AND LANGUAGE - LANGUAGE TAB - TEXT
SERVICES and select the appropriate keyboard from the list..

Can you clarify that a bit. You say you have "the US keyboard setting", but
you don't say if you have a US keyboard.

I have a UK keyboard and on that <shift> 2 = "
