writing to dvd

I have made a video that works wonderfully on my laptop and wrote it to DVD.
The DVD plays back fine on my laptop, but does not play back on any other DVD
drive or DVD player. Does anyone have any suggestions or possible reasons for
this?

What is the file extension of your video and
what software did you use to burn the DVD?
