Hi - in the past I've used a program to burn data to cds,
but I've been told that XP makes it 'easy'... all I have
to do is open the CD drive folder, copy the files I want
to write, and then write to cd.

Trouble is - I get to the last step, and the drive
doesn't recognise that there is a cd in it!!

Help please, what do I do now?

thanks, Rusty

Hello Rusty,

I get the problem every now an then, it should work fine if you eject the
cd, go back one step (right before it says it cant find the cd) put the cd
in, wait for it to spin up, and then hit next. It should work fine.

While XP have built in CD Burning capabilities I disagree with the idea that
it is easy. XP's burning engine is, at best, rudimentary. I suggest third
party software. If you don't wish to purchase an app like Nero, Easy Media
Creator or RecordNow Max you can give this freeware app a try
http://www.cdburnerxp.se/ I use it and it is quite nice

If you have recently upgraded to a dvd burner then the XP burner will not
work. Even if you are trying to burn a cd.
