I use the standard 'Write these files' on the File menu to put files on a CD-RW. I use this as a back-up technique. It writes all files as read only. Therefore I can't copy, move or otherwise get them back. I have also tried the 'attrib' DOS command to change the 'read only' but it will not take

Any help most appreciated
Thanks

Files hat you copy from a CD will always have the status Read-Only.
This is no issue with your CD writer or the CD writing tool in Windows
XP.

The files are marked read only so you can't accidentally copy over them, but
you can copy them back to your hard drive or a floppy disk.

what you want is a packet writing software that treats the cd-rw as a big
floppy drive where you can write - delete-move-copy etc etc

this is a Free one i use for win xp and it works very well, it's made by
ahead same people that make nero cd writing software, you can download
[INCD.exe]

go here and look for a file staring with INCD the current version is
InCD4100.exe
