Windows XP writing files to a CD_RW

I am running XP 5.1 sp2. I never had problems like this until yesterday. Have NOT added anything or changed my system. The CD I was using became full so I took out another CD-RW. It is a SMART/Friendly and was used before but all files erased and XP tells me there's no used space and it has all free space to be used.

So I copy files to the folder to be written and click file,,"write these files to CD". A CD Write Wizard kicks in and tells me the CD is either full or not writable.

HELP!!! What do I do???
 
Is the cd writer showing up in "My computer"?
Can it read ordinary CD-ROM?
It sounds to me like it was damaged somehow.
Also make sure your disk is not dirty or damaged.
