I am not sure this is a windows error or a hardware
error, but I am LOST! Trying to save a backup copy of a
word document to my Sony Drive using a CD-RW disk. The
file is normally saved and written to using a 31/2.
However, I want to back it up to a CD. When I do this I
choose "Save As" and click my D: Drive where the backup
CD resides and then choose Save. Sounds pretty simple,
eh? I get this same error message everytime: "Cannot Save
D:\file name blah blah. The folder is marked as Read
only". I don't get it. Any clues or am I just stupid?

Drag the file to the CD drive letter. A prompt should appear, "you have
files waiting to be written to disc." Click the balloon and WRITE FILES
TO DISK.

If it balks, then it's possible that you have written audio files to that
disk (CDA). That effectively closed the disk, and no more files can be
added. However, a CD/RW can be completely erased, and rewritten. Look here...

I don't understand why it has to be so difficult to just
save to a different drive. This just seems lik an
unnecessary step to have to go into Explorer when you
have the file in front of you. Thanks so much for your
reply.

Because that's the way the XP burner software works.^ See the info
mentioned earlier. You may also have luck right-clicking on the file and
using SEND TO|CD DRIVE letter.
