Writing CD's

I have a number of pictures that I want to store on CD by
copying using win explorer.
Brand new CD-R disks are not recognized by my XP Home
system. I have all updates applied.
I've tried formatting the disk and using it right out of the
box. No difference.
I am able to use The Win media player to burn CD's

any idea what's going on?

Sorry, false alarm. I was using a DVD+R disk. DUH!
 
Does your CD burn anything at all?
A couple of ideas. Try a different brand of disc and maybe a CD-RW. If
that does not work then try burning with a different program.
