write to disk

please help, i am using a maxtor diamond plus 9 60gb hard
drive with xp 2.0 ghz pc, windows displays failure to
write to disk then hard drive starts to click and bleep
then does not detect the drive, any ideas

steve. are you having trouble installing games like

microsoft flight sim or graphic intensive games. im
getting disk transfer errors and cyclic redundency check
failers. have you solved your problem ?.
