I'm trying to download an update from HR Block's Tax Cut
program and I get the message You do not have"write
priviliges for the NULL directory." Contact your
administrator. Well, I'm the administrator and neither I
nor Dell nor Microsoft can find any info on this message.
Any advice woluld be appreciated.

If it were me I would go to another site, like tucows.com
or any other site and try to do a download. If there is
no problem, then the problem is at H&R Block.

(I wonder if this is a "regular" download or if H&R Block
tries to handle the download from within their program
using their own software.)

If you do not have the Google's popup blocker, go to
Google and search for "popup blocker." That is a good
download.

It sounds like your tax software contains a "script" that
says "Save download in %1 where %1 is CurrentDirectory"
except that the name of the current directory or whatever
is not making the trip to replace the null symbol.

You might check the software settings in the tax program
to see if it allows you to designate a target directory
for downloads....look in your Internet Explorer file
manager under c:\program files\"HRBlockprogram" and see if
there is possibly a sub folder there named "Downloads".

I am not a freaking computer expert. Somebody who is will
help you out. I am betting it is not a Dell or Microsoft
problem. Good luck with the computer experts at HR Block.
