To open a PDF file, you need the free Adobe Reader. You can
get some free programs that can create a basic PDF file.
The one I use was listed on MS website and it is called
WIN2PDF. It can take any file and it prints it to a file as
a PDF.
http://www.daneprairie.com/ for WIN2PDF
www.adobe.com If you want full PDF program Adobe writes
and sells that.
If you have WORKS SUITE you can open the WORD program which
is bundled in the WORKS program. WORD is not part of the
basic WORKS program. If you type WINWORD in the start/run
field and WORD is installed it will open.
Both WORKS and WORD have updates and plug-in readers to open
and edit files from various versions. You can find them on
the Microsoft website in the download section with just a
little searching.

|
| .WPS is the default extension for files created using the
Works word
| processor. The files can be opened with the Works word
processor. They
| can also be opened with a word processor that includes
convertors for
| Works documents.
|
| When creating documents, use File> Save As and select a
different format
| from the "Save as type:" drop down list. Works offers a
variety of
| formats: plain text/TXT, rich text format/RTF, Word/DOC
and so on.
|
| The RTF format is very versatile. It is a good choice when
you are not
| sure what software the recipient has on hand to view your
document
| files. It can be read by many different programs and
supports many types
| of document and character formatting (colors, bold,
italics, bullets,
| etc).
|
| For existing documents, open them in Works. Then use the
Save As dialog
| to select a different file type. This will create a second
file with the
| alternative extension. It's up to you if you want to keep
the original
| WPS file or not.
|
| Also... More recent versions of Works include the original
Works word
| processor and MS Word. If you have MS Word installed, you
may want to
| use that program to create documents. It is more full
featured than the
| wp in Works. The default extension for files created with
Word will be
| .DOC.
|
| While you could still opt to save documents using the RTF
extension in
| MS Word, it is more likely that other users will have a
program that can
| read the Word .DOC files. If not, you could then
accomodate them with an
| RTF version of the document or they could obtain a free
Word viewer from
| the MS Office pages on the Microsoft website.
