512mb DDR 400MHz RAM
ATI Radeon 9600XT 128MB DDR - fireblade edition
120GB Western Digital HD
DVD-RW
SB live 5.1

i got 4003 on the default settings on 3d Mark 03. bloody brilliant compared
to my friends,

3000MHz P4
ATI 9800XT - 128mb
512MB DDR 400MHz RAM
200GB HD

and he only got 2103

i am so happy :)

didn't know that the processor would help so much. but i'm stoked cos now i
can play HL2 and D3 when they come out and UT2004 looks so f**king sweet !!!

Must be something wrong with your mates PC. My mate got 4951 using

2.8Ghz P4
ATI 9800
2x256Mb DDR333

No overclocking, all at stock speeds

I got 4758 with a Barton 2500+ overclocked to 2GHz, memory at 400MhzDDR and
a 9700Pro

Both of your scores that you post are still pretty low....your friend should
be getting higher then that...
I get 5300 with a XP 2400 + not o'cd with a 9800 Pro....on an Asus A7N8X Dlx
rev 1.4 w/ 512 2700
That is default settings too...
Still that is a nice machine you have....

well there is something wrong with your friend ... he should have over 5500... If it's really your friend help him
out to find the problem. I suspect he doesn't have a 9800xt because the XT is only 256meg.

Personnaly I have 5910 with only a 9800 Pro and a P4 3.2c

You have a nice CPU but your video card is really average.

Yeah you guys need to look at how to build your PC's. I get a score of
5,943. Nice set up though.

AMD 1800 XP
Geforce 2 MX 32 MB
Windows 95
soundblaster 16 Live
64 MB PCI 100 MHZ
1 GB HD
X2 CD ROM

hmmmm, i dont think so

3DMark03 is purely a vid card benchmark, the processor has little
influence over the scores.

True. However, 3dm2001se is more of an overall system mark.
I overclocked my ram timings, and instantly got about 20% raise in score
(not that they were very great.. ).

I'm wondering about two things. Why did you go with the 9600XT and not the
9800Pro? The 9800Pro is down to less them $200 now and is a much faster
card. Also why did you limit the system memory to only 512MB? If you're
running XP 512MB is barely enough. You would see a huge performance gain if
you had gone with the above suggestions. JLC

Nice setup although I would seriously consider chucking that SB Live and
getting either an Audigy2 or another brand of soundcard.
