would you like to go offline? pop up

Despite being connected to the internet, whenever I open windows mail I get a
pop up box that says that no internet connection is currently available.
Whwn I click try again it goes away and connects me to the internet
 
What type of Internet connection do you have?

Also, when you go to Tools, Accounts, select your mail account, Properties,
Connection, what does it show for connection?
