Please look here first, but at a quick view it would seem to be ok with the
hardware, at least to run it.

Now you do not have a dvd burner which is needed to burn the .iso image to
be downloaded to dvd media, however they are not expensive at all. The
public program is not open at this time, but it is expected to be open in
the future to obtain more keys, and people should be able to order a dvd to
be mailed to them.
I'm the kind of person very slow to upgrade, I don't buy first run parts at
first run prices, I usually buy technology when its already saturated the
market, and the prices have dropped considerably since they first became
popular. Last year I bought a 16x DVD DL +/- burner which included useful
software like OEM PowerDVD, and OEM burning software for $40. Since Windows
XP doesn't quite burn to DVDs with its programs, when it seem it should be
able to, even a simple update could enable this if they wanted to go back to
the company they got the burning software from however they don't want to
pay for the licensing, you need to use 3rd party software to make dvd burns.
