I have now 2 external USB-Enclosures with Hardisks.
Each enclosure costs around 40$,bring their own power supply and need
space.

Also i need more storage in the near future.

So i try to get the following:
Buy an Antec Case with Powersupply.
Buy 4 Sata-Removeable Brackets
Buy 1 yet and another 3 later Sata Hardisks around 250-300GB
Buy these converters, which were directly plugged into a Sata-Hardisk
and provide a USB Port like
http://www.addonics.com/products/io/images/sata_bridge_package.gif
Connect later the 4 Hardisks into one USB Hub and then into my PC.

Backup are not really needed, because the Files were already on CDs or
DVDs.So thats why i dont build a Raid5 Array yet.

The Purpose of this System would be to have Files which are needed in
reach.Also to learn something.

That converter is for IDE to SATA. It doesn't provide some kind of
external USB connection.

I would just build a dedicated file server and access the files over the
network.

I looked for different kind of connections.Sata-Converters,if
Sata-Cable could be longer then 3 feet and USB-Converters if there are
high quality cable available, which is also longer.

I try to take out some Money by not buying a
Mainboard/CPU/Memory/Windows Licence. It will save me at least 200$.
Also i know a dedicated PC will provide me some more Features.
