I would like the "Run" command to pop up in the middle of the screen
rather than just above the START. How? Tack så mycket!

Consider using a shortcut to CMD instead. It's not exactly the same thing,
but it might be close enough for you.

Tack så mycket!

Du er välkommen.

Try this.

Open the Task Manager...
Ctrl + Shift + Esc | File | New Task (Run...)

New Task is identical to the Run command on the Start menu except it will
pop up towards the top of the Task Manager, where ever it is that yours
opens.

Nah, The position of the run box has always bugged me. I mean, why
there? I just don't like it there. I wanna have it pop up in the center,
I mean- what's wrong with that- but nooooooo.. Is it a feature that Bill
himself designed so - thats where it stays boys, like it or not.. or
what? I don't get it. I use it a lot and have a button in the
quicklunch, or launch, whatever. Ohboy, am I slurring my words, too many
beers watching 24, well again, Tack så mycket!

Third-party alternative.

SlickRun download and review - commandline launcher from SnapFiles:

Personallly I prefer using the addressbar that I placed on the taskbar. you
can not only type cmd to get your prompt window opened but I noticed you can
write scripts in the address bar w/o even opening a prompt.

IF you really wanna have some fun I reccomend going to http://nirsoft.net
and downloading NIRCMD. The man is brilliant and wrote a powerful command
language of his own.

Yes his utility programs are great. I use his Startuprun, it gives so
much information on programs that startup and run on Windows.
