Worth getting new graphics card?

Hello again. I have a MSI KT3 Ultra (VIA KT333 chipset), 512Mb Corsair
PC3200 RAM, Athlon XP2500+

Currently I have a GeForce 4 MX440. My motherboard only supports AGP 4X. Now
I quite fancy a new graphics card, either for about 150 GBP or pushing the
boat out for Half Life2, one of the new DirectX 9 mega expensive ones.

Is there any point if I have AGP 4X? Or will it not be worth the money? I
don't want to upgrade the motherboard right now.

Thanks as usual.

4X vs 8X AGP is basically hype like pc100 vs pc133. Most of what is "going
on" in 3D rendering is being done in hardware on the card using it's own
memory. And yes upgrading the card will make a big improvment. I just went
from a ti4200 to an ATI 9800pro 128meg and it's at least 2x faster.
