Interesting. I wonder what the politics would be of suggesting that
Microsoft Antispyware's tracks eraser also do this?

Well, it might maybe be unpolite to have a function cleaning
someone elses
temporaily "house", MS wants us to leave their "houses" for
some unknown reason.

Do you know any purpose with index.dat ?

Well - the current product cleans up after some specific third-party apps.
Macromedia is likely to be sensitive about this issue--they might welcome
the facility. We could request it.

I've been looking to try to figure out how to change the settings, and have
to say I haven't figured it out. I'm supposed to be working, however, so I
haven't devoted any concentrated time to it--just looked for an easy way to
make the settings and be sure that they have taken effect, and I'm still
uncertain.

Yes, I believe it´s time for MS to choose direction but
maybe IE team managers wants
something else ? MSN managers something different?
nevertheless someone at MS must love this junkbin with
temporarily files ?

I think it is this folder which stores Macromedia temp files:

C:\Documents and Settings\User XY\Application
Data\Macromedia\Flash Player\#SharedObjects

Changing the Flash settings to prevent advertisers taking advantage is
fairly easy. Just follow the instructions at the macromedia web site:

Macromedia site - location to amend user Flash settings
http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager.html

Hi

It´s better to have a one "tracks eraser" for all programs,
I really
like CCleaner which removes almost everything. www.ccleaner.com

I don´t think so many "normal users" changes this Macromedia
setting.

I find it confusing.

I'm on a page labelled "Help", with what looks like a working applet, but
with no clear "apply" button. If I move back and forth across the top tabs,
settings are retained, but are they there if I go back later?

OK - looks like yes this time around. This is not a mechanism whose UI I
would describe as intuitive.

I think very few will--so I agree with you--an eraser function in a location
with other such erasers is more likely to be found and used by those with
the concern.

These settings look pretty good, but the chances of very many users actually
finding them and using them seems slim at best.
