Would anyone be able to recognize and diagnose these
symptoms?
Win 2K pro and server systems...
-In control panel, all icons left justified.
-Administrative tools, inaccessible.
-Add/Remove programs, no programs in view.
-In event viewer, unable to view properties of events,
application, or system.
-System instability!
-Lag on startup
Event codes shown: 7001, 7003, 5719, 6005, 6009, & 11151.
Multiple event codes: 7001 & 7003.

I searched in %systemroot%\system32 for .exe's known
as blaster worms and variants, but none were found..
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

You should also do a complete virus scan using the latest virus definitions,
not just search a particular folder. See Karl's FAQ for what to do. You may
also just have a generally hosed operating system. Running System File
Checker may help as in sfc /scannow but more likely you will want to do at
least a upgrade installation assuming viruses are not found that may warrant
a format of your hard drive and complete reinstall after backing up all your
data and configuration [tcp/ip, email, connections, etc] including your user
profile under documents and settings. If you are not using a fiewall, virus
protection including scanning emails, and keeping your critical updates
current, then you have a very high likelyhood of being infected with
multiple viruses/trojans. --- Steve

http://www.microsoft.com/security/protect/
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;292175 --- wil
require reapply service pack an all critical updates from Windows Updates.

Full system scans daily, no viruses found...
Also, virus defs and updates daily...
Could blaster worm or variants be undetectable??
Used removal tools for: blasterA-F, welchia, and Swen...

YOU SHOULD INSTALL THE W2K PATCH THE NAME OF THIS PATCH IS: Windows2000-KB823980-x86-ESN TRY IT. I HAD THSI PROBLEM AND THAT WAS THE CURE!!

If you have not done such, go to http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/default.asp
to check for critical updates to make sure you are current. If your system still acts
strange, it always helps to run another virus scan program on it if possible. It may
help to check for parasites by running SpyBot Search and Destroy on your computer
which is a free download. If it seems that your system is clean, I would try an
upgrade install which often fixes hard to diagnose problems. --- Steve
