My computer(Dell)was infected with this virus. Norton
Anti-Virus is unable to repair. I've already downloaded
Windows critical updates including the patch tool for XP
32 bit. My system shut down completely and had to call
provider to reset my internet connection. I was on hold
with Microsoft support for 25 minutes today and no live
person came on the phone after I was provided a case
number by a customer service person. There is a
recording telling how to enable the firewall, mine is
enabled and it tells you to get an anti-virus protection
to download the "tool" for this virus. As I stated,
Norton is unable to repair according to my little pop-
up. Any suggestions on how to get rid of this virus
after I've already downloaded the supposed "patch"?

Cheryl;
The patch is NOT the fix, it is the prevention.

DISCONNECT the subject computer from any network IMMEDIATELY.

If necessary to stop the reboot process:
Start/Run
Type "shutdown -a" ENTER

Install or enable a firewall IMMEDIATELY:

VERY IMPORTANT to follow ALL steps, closing ports or installing the
patch is NOT enough.
Download the patch and regedit referenced in the article below.
You may need to do this at an uninfected computer and burn to CD or
save on floppies.
Each file is small enough to fit on a floppy.

Follow this to clean and protect your computer:

After this is resolved prevent similar occurrences by installing ALL
Critical Updates from Windows Update.
Keep antivirus up to date and run at least weekly.
Install or enable a firewall.
