The patch is good if you can get to the internet or your
A: drive. What about the infected computers that are
rebooting without even being able to access the operating
system?

Apparently, your computer has an unwelcome visitor (VIRUS) known
as the WM32 Blaster/Lovsan WORM.

It entered the computer through your internet connection because the "firewall"
was not properly enabled and essential critical updates were not installed from
the Windows Update website. For instructions on fixing the problem, visit:

If your computer is constantly attempting to shutdown
or reboot, quickly go to:

Start > Run and type: CMD , and hit enter.
This opens the Command Prompt window.

Then type: shutdown -a , and hit enter.

This should halt the rebooting problem.

Then immediately turn-on Windows XP's built-in Firewall:

Thanks Nicholas,
I am not able to get to the CMD prompt or the Start menu.
My PC reboots even before this. It reboots when I choose
safe mode, safe mode with with networking, or run windows
normaly. I went into the bios to change the boot order to
see if it would boot off the cd and still rebooted before
the OS came up. I know it is the WM32 Blaster but has
anyone heard of it not even allowing the you to get into
the OS for even 60 seconds to make changes?
