worm/nachi virus

I've had this virus and removed it but I still get
notified by AVG that there is a virus in a file in dir
C:\System_Volume_Information\ etc. which AVG can't find
during a scan as the Dir is hidden to me on this comp
(It's visible but not accessible on networked comp). How
do I remove it.

Go to Control Panel, System, System Restore. Turn it off. Reboot and turn
it back on. Your old restore points, and the infected file, will be
removed.

I'm not familiar with AVG, but I can tell you how to unhide the folder you
are trying to look at.

Open up Windows Explorer which you should find off of your Programs menu in
your Accessories folder. Select Tools, Folder Options, and then click on
the View tab. Check the option to Show all files and folders.

Your AVG program should maintain a log file where you can look and see
exactly what action was taken when it first detected the virus. Did it
delete the infected files, did it repair them, did it delete them? If it
repaired them, then you should be fine. If it deleted or quarantined them,
then you need to look at what folder the files came from so that you know
what programs need to be repaired or reinstalled. If a program is now
missing a necessary program file because of the virus, you need to repair
the problem. If you don't know the name of the virus that you were infected
with, the log file will be able to tell you. You should see if AVG offers a
removal tool or a repair method. Download and print the instructions and
follow them. After that you should be fine.

You may want to consider sticking with one of the major two players in the
virus world, McAfee or Symantec. I run Symantec's Norton Antivirus and have
never had these problems that so many off-brand people like yourself seem to
have so frequently. Although Norton Antivirus normally sells for $49.95 I'm
going to share a money saving tip with you. Go to this website
(www.buynowcds.com) and purchase Norton System Works which includes Norton
Antivirus. It normally retails for about $99 so be sure you are sitting
down when you see the price they are going to charge you. It's almost free
and particularly with the free shipping. The Norton Utilities (Norton Win
Doctor and One Button Checkup) will keep your machine running in top
performance to say nothing of the more quality anti-virus program that you
will now have. Anti-virus is a huge focus of both these companies and
should serve you well.
