was give-in a couple floppys because my computer got the
worm. Well didn't get the info about system restore
(turning it off) and my computer is totally gone. What
can I do? Really need your help....thanks

Forgetting to disable System Restore doesn't result in a computer gone
missing.

If you left the floppy in the drive when you shutdown, you may have
contracted a boot sector virus. In this case, you need to run Recovery
Console and "fixboot". Then get an anti-virus tool that can protect
against boot sector viruses. Very annoying, but usually not harmful.

Bur remember that all installed programs and settings stay put! You
might re-install the factory files but the problem might still remain!

A friend had a problem where his computer kept on freezing when
loading. Windows 2000 Professional it is....

Did an in-place upgrade and that didn't fix it. About an hour later I
noticed that ZoneAlarm was causing the problem as the one of
ZoneAlarm's processes was hanging.

Clean cut? No. It was his virus scanner that caused ZoneAlarm to
screw-up, but the virus scanner didn't cease operating!!!!

I changed his anti-virus program to AVG and the problem was cured.

An in-place upgrade is not the "I cure all problems" solution, so
beware giving out that advise. I learnt the hard way, but after about
4 hours I got my friend's computer fully operational (he runs his own
business) and didn't have to re-format and re-install. He's learnt
his lesson about taking backups of his valuable work.
