Can you describe how to install only the mapping program,
which is presented component of Excel 2000 on an Office
2000 installation CD? I'm hoping that your guidance will
also benefit the original poster who has Office 97.
I'd like to install the map-making software on a newer
computer that's running Office XP Professional &
Office/Excel 2002. The newer computer doesn't have any
Office 2000 programs on it but it does have the add-ins
and other components of the Office Suite that have
appeared typically over the years.
I tried installing the program, which is listed under
Excel 2000 as Microsoft Map, on my newer computer and
couldn't figure out how to isolate the Microsoft Map
component. Any suggestions?

You can purchase MapPoint from Microsoft, or you can
find your old Office 97 disk and reinstall
the map feature. I don't have MapPoint, but I can still
use the old Map utility in Excel 2000
and 2002, and I've been told it also works in 2003.
Obviously it's still recognized on my
machine by the newer releases of Office. I've never
tried installing it from the old CD, though.
