A collegue has 30+ worksheets in an Excel 2000 workbook and has
problems saving the workbook. is the fact there are so many large
sheets a contributing factor to not being able to save??? We have
recently upgraded his workstation to a brand new PC and the problem is
still there

TIA

I've done more than 30 without any substantial problem. In my
experience this is more often a network issue. (In fact the network
where I work is so sluggish, I save to my local drive and just copy to
the network ones for backup periodically.)

Is he saving to a network drive, or locally?

Network drive, but we only have 20 users on the network and it's
reasonably fast. The other problem is he's using Excel when there are
other packages more suited like Word and Access but he just dont hear
me!!!!

What type of information is being handled within the spreadsheets?

You say he is having problems saving the file -- what type of problems? what
type of messages is he getting? What size is the file (mb not sheets)?
