I use grouping of rows and columns extensively for showing monthly
quarterly, annually etc fiqures so that users may view summary o
detailed information by the + & - grouping selections.

I have found that when I protect the worksheet - I am unable to use th
+ & - grouping functions to view the detail.

I would be very grateful if someone could assist me with where to fin
the protection setting that will allow this.

Many thanks

Hi Ian,
1.To protect certain cells you should highlight the whole
worksheet (Ctrl A), from the menu bar select Format, then
Cells and choose the Protection tab and untick "Locked"
and select OK.
2.Next you should highlight the cells you would like to
protect and select Format, Cells and tick "Locked" and OK.
3.Select from menu bar Tools, Protection sheet, type in
your password and Ok, it will prompt you to re-enter your
password, just re-enter and OK.
4.Just test by typing in the area you have protected to
see if this work and save your document.
Important note: Make sure you know your password and
passwords in Excel are also case sensitive.
