Every time my computer comes out of hibernation I get this StartupMonitor
Warning: "Microsoft Works Update Detection has registered the executable
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Works
WkDetect.exe to run at system startup. Do you wish to allow this change?
yes or no.

It does not matter whether I answer yes or no, I keep getting this same
message. How can I get this to stop? I think this behavior started when I
did a Windows Update a couple days ago.

Thanks for your help.

Start the Registry Editor, open the Run box and enter: regedit

Look for "WkDetect.exe" in these keys and delete, if found:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]

I did not find WkDetect.exe in either of the registry locations you
suggested. Also I searched my computer for WkDetect.exe and did not find it
anywhere.

I think I have solved the problem myself; I did the following:
1) I compressed wkfud.exe and WkUFind.exe to .zip files so I could disable
them but retrieve them easily if needed.
2)Opened the Works task launcher and unchecked the option to have Works look
for updates.
3)Restarted the computer.

So far so good.
