I have transfered some Works spreadsheets from one
computer using Windows ME to another using Windows XP.
When trying to open them from their folder, a window often
appears saying 'cannot open file, it may be corrupted'
Meanwhile I can open them through 'Search'
Why Oh Why

Did you install Microsoft Works on your Windows XP computer?
Microsoft Works is not included with the Windows XP operating
system. It is an optional software program you must install after
purchasing it.

Please visit the Works experts found in the Microsoft Works newsgroup:

If you saved them to a floppy disc, copy them into a file on your hard drive
before trying to open. Trying to open from a floppy disc is sort of a 50/50
chance at best. Don't know why, but it works that way. Make sure your
program on XP box is capable to open your programs also.
