WORKING ON ONE WEBSITE FROM 2 LOCATIONS

Help!! I have a website which was already created on my work PC. However, I
am creating a new site on my home computer. Do I need to "publish" my "work
in progress website" first & does that overwrite the existing?

Yes
Publish the Site from the online site in FP to your other PC(s) anytime you need to synchronize that PC
Then edit it in that PC's local site and Publish it back to the server
