Working on my live site

It takes an extremely long time, like 10 minutes to save a single page when
working wit my live site. I know this is not right but I have no idea how
to go about correcting this problem or even where to begin to look.

Any suggestions?
 
The way i do it is i have my web site stored locally on my comptuer . any
changes that I would do i save it then publish it to my live site. this
would only replace the changes that i made.

Tip
If the page has already been published i.e. all of the images etc and you
have only made changes to the text or moved page elements around (including
images) you can right click on the page in folder view and click publish
selected pages only. this will publish that page only so you dont have to go
through the listing pages procedure.
You can even insert images from your web folders as long as they have
already been published to the server
