When I browse to My Network Places|Entire Network|Microsoft Windows
Network I can see my domain. The problem is that other domains or
workgroups periodically appear as though someone has plugged in to our
network. For instance, today I can see Mshome. Can anyone please
tell me if there is any way to find out where this Workgroup/Domain is
coming from.

I'm assuming you only have one computer at home without any network of
your own and that you have either cable or DSL for internet access. If
that's the case, you are seeing other users who are also on the same ISP
with you. They could also be unaware that other workgroups can be seen,
but there are a couple of things you can do. What's your home setup,
and which Windows are you using? My guess is XP, but I want to be sure.

Actually I'm talking about a domain at work with Windows 2000 Servers
and Win2k and XP pro clients. We have 2 DNS servers and 1 DHCP server.
For example:
If a guest comes in and decides to just plug into an empty outlet to
access the internet, they will show up under My Network Places -->
Entire Network --> Microsoft Windows Network right next to the domain
name (under whatever workgroup name they have on their machine).
That's one situation where I know where its coming from.
For these people (guests), we have set up a separate ADSL connection
and I just set up an outlet for them to plug into that. Then they
don't show up on our network.
The ones I'm worried about are the ones I don't know where they're
coming from.
I have no way of finding out where these names come from. I can't ping
them or do anything like that.
Has anyone ever heard of this before?
Let me know if you need any more info.
