I have created a theme that I would like to appear on all my users theme
gallery - without them having to add it themselves to their own themes
folder. Can I do this with Group policy? create in effect a workgroup theme
folder? Or is their some other way?

Hi Craig,

Run a batch file to copy the theme to the correct folder on the target
machine. It shoud. be available in the Desing tab of the Ribbon. Make sure
you call it something different to what is currently available or you will
overwrite another theme. Naturally, test this on a few machines first!

C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates\Document Themes is the
folder to save the THMX file to. It will appear in a new section on the
Themes gallery called "Custom." (I don't know anything about actually
creating a batch file or group policy or MST or whatever to make that
happen, though, sorry.)

If I recall correctly, some of us tried to get themes to show in the
"built-in" section, but only themes using the Microsoft names for the
built-in themes would show up. And when we'd add our own themes to the
folder where those built-in themes are housed, they'd show up renamed to the
MS names, too. It was all very strange. :-)

Hi,

My themes do show in the Gallery when I drop them in:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Document Themes 12

I think the roaming folder is Vista specific which might explain why it
doesn't work. Certainly works on Windows XP.

No, the Program Files folder is the one we couldn't add themes to -- I
thought that was the case in both Vista and WinXP. Interesting that it works
for you on Windows XP, though....

Also, you're correct that the path I mentioned is for Vista. I meant to
mention that and forgot.
