Workgroup systems not shown in Browse List

I have a network Workgroup consisting of a Win2003
Server, three (3) Win XP Pro systems, and one (1) Win 2K
system. So far as I can tell the setup is right -- unique
names, unique TCPIP addresses (assigned by DHCP), same
Workhroup name throughout, etc.

All the latest patches and updates from the Microsoft
update site are posted.

I can specify a network drive manually
as "\\SysName\ShareName" just fine. All systems can use
the Internet via a DSL Router/Gateway just fine. All
systems respond to PING just fine. I am pretty sure the
network cables, switche, and general setup is okay.

When I Browse the Network as part of a "Map Network
Drive" operation, no system names are shown for the
Workgroup. None. On any system. Why?

I also noticed in the Login On screen, the
Workgroup/Domain name is not visible, even if I
click "Show Options". The systems seem to act as if they
were a set of standalone systems.

The is a new problem. I appeared suddenly in the last
month or so.

Any ideas and suggestions would be appreciated,

Thanks.

Victor

Not an expert here but watch out for those "unique names." I found XP is
finicky about names on network shares and sometimes prevents access to other
systems because of their names even when the domain name is the same.
Sometimes those names are just not recognized. Try changing them and see if
that helps.
