Workgroup not accessible

When click on my network places I get
"(workgroup) not accessible. You might not have permission
to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of
this server to find out if you have access permissions>

This list of servers for this workgroup is not currently
available"

I am the administrator and I have no clue why this has
started happening now. Nothing was changed. I have
gotten this before but it usually went away after a reboot.
 
I am having the same problem. Another newsgroup poster
suggested checking the XP firewall. I am not particularly
familiar with XP, however, and I don't yet know where to
check on the firewall settings.

Any answers to the above post would be doubly appreciated.
 
Try these tips:

1. Permanently disable XP's built-in Internet Connection Firewall on
local area network connections -- it's for use only on a direct modem
connection to the Internet. Disable and un-install all other
firewalls while troubleshooting. Details here:

2. Use only one protocol for File and Printer Sharing. If the network
needs more than one protocol, unbind File and Printer Sharing from all
but one of them. Details here:

3. Make sure that NetBIOS over TCP/IP is enabled on all computers.

Go to the controll panal=> network
There must be the LAN Connection (f.ex. LAN1)- right mouse
click on it=> properties!
On the last TAB are the settings for the firewall!
