Workgroup File in Access

Good afternoon,
someone may possibly help on the following problem in
Access 2000.
An application is used in a multisuer network environment.
Users join a common mdw file for their respective
permissions.
When some users start Access, it creates a new System.mdw
file (System1, system2, etc) instead of using the common
mdw file although they have apparently "joined
succesfully".

I must add that the application was initially in Access
2000 format, was converted into 2002 than into mde.
The users that cannot log into the application have been
added after conversion; is there a possible link and what
can be done ?
Many thanks,
Christian

There are two ways to determine what workgroup file a database uses.

(1) Use the workgroup administrator program to change the default workgroup
file. This only affects that >one PC<, and it affects >all databases< that
are used on that PC, except for any databases that use method (2).

(2) Start each database using a shortcut which includes the /wrkgrp switch
to select a specific workgroup file for use on that run. That workgroup file
could be on the server, for example.

(2) is the way to go. From your description, it is clear that Access can not
locate a workgroup file (in certain cases), & is creatng a new one - which
is what it always does, if it can not find one.

HTH,
TC
