It may be overkill, but take a look at DeskNow at (cleverly enough) www.DeskNow.com. You get the whole magilla in the download but after the 30
day eval, the remaining features (including the calendar) become freeware.
It is a web portal but does not require IIS as I recall. If you don't have
a machine that is a "server" then someone needs to bite the bullet and run
it on her/his machine.
I have tried Desknow and I think that it is great but several other
people complained about the small size of the calendar in desknow (
the bifocal croud was getting a sore neck looking up and down) . I do
agree that desknow is excellent though and heartily reccommend it to
people looking for a groupware calendar and message solution.
