I'm used to doing A/B rolls and having at least two video sources to work
from to combine into one video - but I dopn't have a clue how to do this
with MoveMaker - I can import several videos but can only work with ONE at a
time instead of being able to view two at a time.

Any suggestions?

The A/B roll and output roll style of working is the right way to edit video
when the medium is magnetic tape. This is what is called "linear editing"

Movie Maker uses a completely different model -- called "non-linear"
editing. This style of editing was pioneered by George Lucas and takes
advantage of the quick access and high storage capacity of modern computer
hard disks.

So with MM you view the clips up in the collection pane and use the trim and
split commands to get rid of the content you dont want. The you drag and
drop the clips you want onto the storyboard/timeline in the order you want.
Once you placed everything you want on the storyboard/timeline the
"File-->Save Movie File" command automatically assembles the output video.
