Has anyone out there had Word 2002 shut down when you tell a document to
print. I know someone that is experiencing this irritating behaviour. It
is a setting or a problem. It started about a week and a half ago.

Most mysterious behaviour. I've never heard of this problem before.
Thanks in advance.

Not sure if this is a setting? Sounds more like a problem.

Does the document get printed before it shuts down?
Is it any document, or just one specific one.
Also is Word closing down 'nicely' or crashing? (One way to tell is to make
a change but don't save it before pringin and see if you get the option to
save when you print.)

You could try re-installing/updating your printer drivers, or installing a
different printer (If you have access to one)

All good questions. I'll see what I can find out.
I was wondering if there was a command that could be set
to close on print. There are a number of settings for pre-
printing ... like updating fields, spellcheck, but I
hadn't heard of closing. I like the suggestion of making
a change before printing (again, on the assumption that it
even prints). I'll let you know how it pans. Diana

It would seem that this problem has "almost" stopped. It only happens only
on the one pc.

The document does print, even though it shuts down word, but it wasn't
saving any changes, so any suspicions that it might be a macro (I considered
this) that activates on print have become unfounded.

I have to surmise that it might simply be a problem on the one pc. I having
the person do a bunch of routing maintenance on the pc and that may have
been what has fixed it. Hard to say with this not-so-finite science.

Thanks.

The problem may well be a damaged printer driver. Try deleting and
reinstalling the printer.
