Hi,

Wanted to know why is it that in word if I type some word like "fghy" I will
be offered the option of Ignore all and add to dictionary and can do
whatever I want to choose from them.

But suppose I write "its" it will offer only Ignore all. Basically I wanted
to write It's but while typing fast wrote it as its. Why doesnt it offer Add
to dictionary in this case. Like I wouldnt want to be prompted for "its" in
any future document. Again, I dont want to turn off the correcting options

Please guide me.

Kari,

Like if you wanted to say:
"The building lost its glittering façade to the ravages of
time."

As you are apparently already aware, it's is a proper
spelling. It is the contraction for the two words "it
is." :-)

Words default autocorrect file will autocorrect its the
and its a to it's the and it's a.

Its is the possessive first person pronoun for inanimate
objects like the buidling above. Consider "The tree in
our yard lost its leaves in August this year. It's going
to be a cold winter."

You can create an autocorrect for its to it's if you want
to. If you do then I recommend that you keep "check
grammar as you type" active.

If the word is already in the dictionary, you will not have the option
to add it. In the examples you gave, "fghy" is not a real word and so
is not in the dictionary, but "its" is a real word that is already in
the dictionary.

Hi,

Thanx for ur response.
If "its" is already there in the dictionary then why am i getting prompted
about it being a mistake

Hi Hari

green wiggly line or red?

if it's green it's a grammatical error not a spelling one.

Cheers
