Hello all,

Sorry if this is considered cross posting (I posted this on the 6th on the
microsoft.public.word.newusers group and had no response). Just out of
curiosity, is it crossposting if it is done 4 days apart?

Here's my problem:
I have tried the Send to PowerPoint feature with an 82 page Word document
but it doesn't work. All that happens is that PowerPoint opens with about
14 slides, the text on the 1st page of the Word document appears on slide 12
or 13 and nothing else appears anywhere in the PPT (white slides with 'Click
to add text').

Does anyone know how to fix this?

MS Word 2002, Windows XP OS

Thanks in advance

Raymond

Raymond,
When you send content from Word to PowerPoint, only those paragraphs with
certain styles attached will go across. It works as follows:
Heading 1's become slide titles
Heading 2's become first level bullets in the content
Heading 3's become second level bullets in the content
Heading 4's become third level bullets in the content.
Heading 5's become fourth level bullets in the content.

Now, if you want to see this in the easiest way possible in Word, view your
Word document as an outline. If it doesn't show in the outline, it isn't
going over to PPT. And, if it does show, but the style defined is for a
heading level greater than 5 it won't go over either (that might be 6, I
don't know - I never go that far down in a single slide)

My guess is that you have a bunch of blank Heading 1's in your Word file, so
they are becoming blank slides. The text that is coming over on the 12th or
13th slide is heading text that is between two H1 style paragraphs.

So, in order to send directly from Word to PowerPoint, you will need to
re-format your Word document using the defined headings. If you don't want
the original Word file changed, make a copy of it before doing the
re-formatting.
