I have a contract document in word that is merged with the data in Access.
In order to avoid numerous edits to the content of the document, I believe it
would process more effectively if it orginated from access. Can this
process be done? If so, how?

Not sure based on what you've said, but on my website
(www.rogersaccesslibrary.com), there is a small Access database sample
called "AutomatingWordFromAccess.mdb" which might give you a starting point.
You can find it here:

Roger's given you one answer, but without some detailed explanation of what
you are doing, and why there have to be "numerous edits" to the content,
it's difficult to determine if there is a simpler approach. If it is a
boilerplate document and all you need to do is to insert names, prices,
dates, quantities, and text, then using mail-merge might be a good way.
