Hi All, i have a word document that i want to lock.
Reason for this is so that i can add entries onto the
document but i do not know how to do this. Any help
please!
Im using word 2002 and the document is a .doc extension.
Thanks in advance

Paris,

You can password protect your documents so that a password
is required to Open, Modify, or Both to your documents.
Pick these settings by clicking...

Tools | Options | Save: there you can set your passwords
before saving the file again. Keep in mind that it is
critical to remember the password, because a forgotten
password locks you out from modifying too.

Additionally, anyone that can open a document, even as
read-only, can modify it and save it to a new name. One
method of preventing others from inadvertant or deliberate
modification is to export finished documents as PDF using
Adobe Acrobat utilities.

If this file is in a networked environment, it might be
safer to lock this file down with permissions. If you
made it Full Control for yourself first and then Read
Only for the group Everyone, then only you can make
changes....everyone else will only have read only
permissions. Just a thought.
