Word temp files do not automatically delete after closing document

When open a word document a hidden temp file begining
with "~$" followed by the name of the document is being
created in the same directory. After closing the document
(and Word) this file stays behind.

Is there a setting within word to automatically delete the
hidden file after the document is closed.

Hopefully someone can help me with this ...

Do you have all the required permissions for the folder?

It sounds as if you've got the mystery problem then. Users do report this
problem with temp files not being deleted, but I'm not sure any resolution
has been achieved. You might try posting in
microsoft.public.word.application.errors and hope that Terry Farrell has
some knowledge about this.
