You really need to provide us with more information, in
example, Version of Word you're using.
I'm no expert but sounds as if you've broken the .DOC
file association with MS Word. Here's how to check.
01. Run explorer.exe
02. Pull down Folder Options under Tools item
on top menu bar
03. Click on File Types header in Folder Items box
04. Scroll down to DOC listing in File Types header
The file type should read "Microsoft Word Document"
05. If the file type reads "Microsoft Word Document",
someone else will need to help you.
06. If the file type reads "WordPad", then click on the
Change button.
07. In the Open With box list, scroll down to
"Microsoft Word Document" and click
OK button.
08. Click OK buttons to backtrack.
Now, when you save as your ".Doc" files, they
should be saved as Microsoft Word documents.
If they don't, I'm at a loss.
